Day Sixty One

chatted on line to a fellow endo sister today who is grappling with the decision about having a hysterectomy or not having one.

She wanted to chat to me because of the choice I made,  really made me realise that the feelings and fears I experienced before my op were actually normal.  Whilst she is thankful that she has two children (but has had 5 miscarriages and 1 still birth) there is a huge dilemma within her about going for the op or not.  Partly due to this not being a cure and partly as she would love more children.

My advice to her was to follow what she felt was the best for her – I could not help her make up her mind, but I listened to her reasons for and against.

A common theme throughout all of my discussions with ladies facing this life changing experience is that none of us appear to have been offered any specialised counseling or support.  I have had to pay for this kind of support and even with it I am finding it hard to come to terms with.

Procreating is a primeval instinct, forget capitalism or consumerism!  It is what we were created to do, along with the hunter gatherer instinct.

Even writing this I am getting so angry that so many of us are left floundering around,  in pain, trying to understand why.

I don’t have those answers for me , so there is no way I have these answers for others
